Top Classic Sports Cars

There are many great, quality sports cars and it was difficult to narrow this list down to just a few. However, I believe I have compiled a list that most race fans and car enthusiasts will agree upon.

The 1956 Ford Thunderbird. This car helps to define a generation. When one thinks of the 50’s one thinks of Elvis, poodle skirts, and the Ford Thunderbird (more commandingly known as the T Bird). The T Bird broke new ground in the U.S. as the first auto with a V8 engine that could reach speeds over 100 mph.

The 1967 Chevrolet Corvette. The musician Prince did not pick a corvette to sing about for nothing. It has been over 40 years since this car had its debut and it is still the sexiest car around. Equipped with a turbo jet engine and 425 horsepower, the Corvette can go from 0 – 60 in 6 seconds.

The 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rosa

The least successful of the Ferrari racing cars, it is one of the most popular because of its beauty. This car sports a 2 speed automatic transmission and 300 horsepower.

The 1971 Maserati Bora

This car is considered to be the masterpiece of the Maserati family and it’s production was limited to only 1750 cars. This was the only mid engine Maserati with a V8 engine, 310 hp with a top speed of a 162 mph.

The Porsche 911

The Porsche family set out to make winning sports cars that could also be used by the ordinary driver. The 911 was first introduced in 1964 and is still in production today.

Classic sports cars are about the need for speed. Today’s modern technology allows most cars to exceed the horsepower and speed of their predecessors. Ultimately, it is their design beauty that gave them their place in history.
