Most Expensive Classic Cars

The world of classic cars is exciting and interesting. It can bring together the worlds of the super rich and the upper middle class. Many buy, sell and collect these cars like any other commodity where as for some; just having the privilege of owning one represents a lifetime of hard work. Some may be able to walk in with the cash for one of these classic cars where others may have to wait for inheritance or lottery winnings to ever get their hands on one. For what ever reason, it is always interesting to see what the most expensive classic cars are and what they are selling for.
In at No 10 is the 1956 Ferrari Monza with a price tag of 2.5 million dollars. This was one of Ferrari’s top racing cars in the 1950’s and have since never built another 4 cylinder car engine.
In at No. 9 is the 1933 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Monza Spider Corsa costing a mere 2.53 million dollars. The 8 cylinder engine made this the most powerful car of its time.
In at No.8 is the Mercedes-Benz 540k Special Roadster with a price of 3.63 million dollars. This car was the pride of German engineering of its decade.
In at No 7 is the 1937 8C Alfa Romeo 2900 with a price of 4.07 million dollars. This car was built to win races and championships of the time.
In at No.6 is the 1964 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coup with a price of 4.4 million dollars. This car made its debut at the 1964 Daytona 500.
In at No.5 is the 1932 Alpha Romeo Tipo B at 5.6 million dollars. This car was originally built for the 1932 formula one season.
In at No. 4 is the 1962 Ferrari 330 TRI/LM at a price of 6.5 million dollars. This car was built to adhere to the new racing rules set by Lemans, allowing only 4 cylinder cars to compete.
In at No.3 is the 1931 Bugatti Royal at a price of 8.7 million dollars. This car was designed purely for luxury, using only the finest woods and metals available.
In at No 2. is the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO with a price of 16.6 million dollars. This car was designed to suit both road and racing purposes.
Finally, in at No. 1 is the 1954 Mercedes W 196 with a price of 24 million dollars. This car dominated the formula 1 racing season of 1954-1955.
Classic cars are much more than just expensive. By learning about them and why they were built, we can get a piece of history.
